"Rock N Roll Monster!" - Electric
Frankenstein's only release on the famous Au-Go-Go Records. This is a
special Electric Frankenstein release with the late great Rik L Rik as
a guest vocalist, in celebration of Rik's 20th year in Punk Rock!
Electric Frankenstein cited Rik as one of their main root influences,
having written the very best southern California style Punk Rock songs.
Au-Go-Go
records, famed for their Australian release of records by Mudhoney,
Dictators, Butthole Surfers, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Dinosaur Jr,
Lemonheads, Scientists, and many more, teamed up Electric Frankenstein
and Rik L Rik to create a most incredible High Energy Punk Rock &
Roll team-up of all time.
The record
features the vocals and lyrics of Rik
L Rik, who has the claim to fame of having released the FIRST
Punk Rock album in California during the late 1970s, with is band F-Word, on the famous Posh-Boy Records label. Rik was also
famous for his great solo material, which many bands have covered and
site as an influence. No less than Rolling
Stone magazine named Rik as "the
next greatest singer in Punk after Iggy Pop"! Sadly, Rik passed away
unexpectedly in 2000, from a brain tumor, so Electric Frankenstein is
particularly beloved of this record, since it was a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity to record with their idol.
Also featured on this record is the the lead guitar of Jim Foster
(ADRENALIN OD), and the
drumming of John "King of Men" Steele, who both helped develop the
Electric Frankenstein sound. Also, a Germs tribute song "A
Singer's Blood/Naked Heat" (which lifts the rhythm from "Sex Boy")
appears, written by Rik L Rik, who was a close friend of Darby Crash, the infamous Germs
singer. Finally, the record featues cover songs of Australian 70s Punk band The Fun Things, infamous US Punk band The Misfits, as well as Negative Trend and F-Word, famous
Rik L Rik
songs, with Rik and EF playing together this totally ripping classic
southern California 70s Punk Rock songs, some of the best ever written
by anyone.
Cover art features
the fantastic work of Andrew McLeod, well
known Australian tatoo artist,
which
he considers one of his best ever.

“Who is the most important underground rock band
of the last 10 years?” Just ask anyone and you will be greeted with the
same answer: “Electric Frankenstein”. There’s no doubt about it. With
music appearing on over 65 albums, compilations, singles and 7-Inches,
there is no harder working band in Rock ‘N’ Roll today. Electric
Frankenstein is a movement, a working-man’s answer to what is missing
from popular music in the world today; straight-up, raw, in-your-face,
combustible Rock ‘N’ Roll. Electric Frankenstein simply has no equal."

"Wild mix of the Dolls, the MC5, the Stooges, pre Rollins Black Flag
and
a whole lot of 60's garage rock hooks. These guys make it all seem so
easy. The twin guitar sound is as big and thick as a wrestler's neck,
and it's perfectly complemented by singer's WWF approved holler."

"A
bunch of guys from
New Jersey exhume the rotting corpse of rawk'n'roll and, ramming
together
bits and pieces of the best of 60's garage,
Detroit rock and 70's american and australian punk, create the best
sounding creature the world has had the fortune to lay ears upon in the
past ten years. Nobody does it better. New Bomb Turks, Murder City
Devils, Spitfires,
Hellacopters, Oneida, Nomads, Zen Guerrilla, and the combined
rosters
of
Estrus, Get-Hip, SubPop, Empty, Junk, Dyonisus, In The Red, Sympathy
and Bomp! All have to stand aside and pay homage to the Kings of
Rawk!!!
As shocking as anything the Stooges, the Saints and the Scientists ever
did."
